For Weather Closings, you can check the following:

What level class should my child be in? How is level determined?

Class placement is mainly based on age and ability. We have a system that follows closely to a school grade level. Our students start out together in class based on age, and those levels might change once they grow and develop into young dancers. For class placement, please contact us.

03

What is the dress code? Where can I purchase these items?

SDA|MRDA follows a specific dress code in class. We feel that keeping this organized structure helps keep our students focused and well prepared for dance. Our guidelines for attire can be found here!

04

When can I observe my child in class?

We are happy to host Observation Week in November each year. During this week, we ask that Parents/Guardians attend class to observe their dancer.

Parking; Only in SDA|MRDA designated areas.

I want to enroll my 3-year old! What do I need to know?

We welcome dancers at the age of 2.5 (all students must be potty trained). Our Creative Dance program offers class for ages 2.5-4, 4-5 and 5-6. Motion to Music, Dance + Movement and Pre Ballet are great stepping stones for your young child to enter the studio.

Our youngest students are welcome to wear any color leotard, skirt, tutu, tights, ballet slippers and hair pulled back.

06

What is the performance all about?

Each year, we host a Spring Performance, consisting of a full-length classical ballet followed by the After Intermission dances: Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Etc.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to express themselves through performance and show off all they have learned. It is a wonderful local performance event and all are welcome to attend.

07

Can my child try a class before enrolling?

New students are welcome to try a class before committing to our yearly program. There is a $15.00 class fee that will apply. If the student chooses to commit to Stowe/Mad River Dance Academy, that $15.00 will be applied to tuition.

When is my daughter ready to go on Pointe?

Many students are excited and eager to start pointe. At SDA|MRDA, dancers are invited to begin pointe lessons when they are of the appropriate age and technical ability. Helena does a yearly evaluation of each student, and will notify you when your child is ready for the additional ballet class.
